Jerome Powell was a US Federal Reserve Governor when he became a Salzburg Global Fellow. He participated in the Forum on Finance in a Changing World - Global Challenges, Regional Responses: How Can We Avoid Fragmentation in the Financial System? During the opening panel, Governor Powell gave remarks discussing the current regulatory regime and called for regulatory reforms, explaining ways in which they could be put in place. In 2018, Powell was nominated as chair of the Federal Reserve, a position he kept with the new president.
